End of Term Letter - Summer 2021
It has been a year unlike any other and as well as a national lockdown which impacted our school in the spring term, this last half term has been incredibly challenging. We are currently dealing with numerous positive cases in our community which unfortunately has led to some class closures. I would like to thank families for their understanding and support when we have been left with no option but to close classes – something which obviously causes significant disruption for everyone.
In addition, I must once again express my thanks and gratitude to every member of the staff team here at Bridgelea for dealing with the most challenging of circumstances this school year. All Bridgelea staff have done everything they can to ensure that your children remain happy and safe in school whilst simultaneously providing online learning for any children isolating at home. Parents and Carers have done (and are continuing to do) an incredible job supporting their children with home learning, often whilst working from home. I would also like to thank our wonderful admin and site team who keep everything running smoothly in school despite the challenging current situation.
Next year there will be a few staff changes. After 10 years as your Head Teacher, I am moving into a new role as Development Lead in our partnership with Manchester Secondary PRU. I will still be part of Bridgelea and will work with Leaders in both Bridgelea and MSPRU to support improvements in Learning and Teaching in both schools. Mrs Kelly Eyre will become our Head of School from September.
Mr Martin Wilcock is leaving our outreach team, Mrs Beverley Potts and Mrs Karen Hyland are leaving our teaching team and the following teaching assistants; Mr Reece Lyndon, Miss Megan Heywood, Miss Sarah Radcliffe, Miss Ella Howard, Mr Jack Winder and Ms Lisa Howarth are leaving us at the end of this term and we wish them all the very best for the future. We would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the agency staff who have supported the school throughout a very challenging year.
In September, we will welcome new members of staff to our team. Ms Amy Robinson will be joining us as an Assistant Head and both Ms Emma Davies and Mrs Helen Shaw will be joining the senior leadership team.
Manchester City Council will be providing free school meal vouchers during the summer holiday period for children who are eligible to the value of £90 per child. Diane our School Business Manager will be arranging for these to be printed and distributed and will be in contact with families to support this.
We finish for the summer holiday on Wednesday 21st July.
For all our Year 6 students and other students who are leaving us in July, we wish you the very best of luck in your new school. Please come back and visit us to let us know how you are getting on.
