WILLOW (JC) 2020 - 2021
Hello and welcome to our class page for:
In Class Willow, the teacher is Mr Carroll, teaching assistants are Ellen, Dan and Olivia.
On this page we will give you information about what we will be doing this half term (Spring 2).
We have PE on a Monday with our PE teacher Reo.
Special Breakfast happens each week on a Friday where we have lots of tasty food pancakes, scrambled eggs, beans, lots of fresh fruit which the children love. We give our certificates to our Rights Respecting Superstars and find out which Duty bearers have earned an extra special mention too.
Most of the Willow class children have been in this half term but we make sure our remote learners are doing the same work in our weekly home learning pack we deliver every Thursday ready to start lessons the following Monday. Pupils have been given their login details to access our school learning apps at home. Please contact your class team if you need the log in details to be resent.
Homework is set weekly on a Friday and is due back to school by the following Wednesday.
Please try and read with your child regularly either online using Active Learn or using a reading book sent home if you have requested one.
This next half term we will be learning through the vehicle of food.
Our RAFT for writing will include texts to inform and we will be learning about non-chronological reports, writing investigation reports. about some non-fiction texts while finding out about Forces in Science too. We will also be expanding our inference skills in reading while learning about dairy farms, the human body, and different ways of farming around the world.
In maths we will concentrate multiplication and division, moving on to fractions using Numicon and doing some Geometry, Space and Measure.
We will be looking at different biomes around the world and comparing different techniques farmers use. We will also be doing work during Fairtrade Fortnight and how it benefits the farmers and workers in different countries.
Science this half term will be exploring animals and humans’ bodies, having a look at how blood and nutrients help keep us alive.
We have been doing online safety this half term and learning how to keep ourselves safe while we are online. In purple mash we have designed some good vehicles and we have been brushing up on our typing skills.
In art we have created our very own clay model the children really enjoyed doing this.
Last half term we did forest school which the children really enjoyed. They learned how to start a fire with without matches, they made and toasted pizzas in the great outdoors which went down a treat. The cold weather did not stop the children from enjoying it!
To view any of the wonderful work that we have done in Class Willow, please refer to your child’s Class Dojo Class Story and Portfolio where you will find news, pictures, and information about what
they have achieved.
