PINE (MS) 2021 - 2022
Welcome to Pine Class Page.
Welcome to Pine Class! Our class teacher is Miss Smith and the teaching assistants are Ella and Sian.
All of our work will be posted on class dojo. Don't forget to login to see what we have been up to.
Special Breakfast happens each week on a Friday where we give our certificates to our Rights Respecting Superstars and find out which Duty bearers have earned an extra special mention too.
We have PE with Reo our Sports Coach on a Tuesday and Wednesday this half term, so make sure you have your trainers on those days please.
Homework is set weekly on a Friday and is due back to school by the following Wednesday.
Please try and read with your child regularly either online using Active Learn or using a reading book if you have requested one to be sent home.
The children have access to many online learning sites to keep them busy at home and in school. Log in and see if you can beat your previous scores on some of the learning games.
In Autumn 1, we will be studying:
ENGLISH: We will be doing 2 weeks narrative work using the book The Promise by Nicola Davies, 2 weeks of Informing using the text How to be an Anglo-Saxon and 2 weeks of Persuasion using the text You Wouldn't Want to be An Anglo-Saxon Peasant. In all our written work, we will also be using Colourful Semantics to help us improve our sentence structure.
MATHS: We will be starting the term by looking at place value and then move onto the 4 operations - adding, subtraction, multiplication and division.
SCIENCE: We will be learning about Humans including animals looking specifically at the human life cycle and how it compares to some animals. We will be plotting some graphs using data and looking for patterns to make conclusions.
HISTORY: The Anglo Saxons - We will be using primary and secondary sources to find out who they were and what they did, as well as learning when in History they were around.
ART: We will be working with Jo our school artist and working on the skill of painting. She will help us to mix different colours using the mother colour and then how to do a self portrait.
DT: Come Dine with me! We will be working collaboratively to research a range of starters, mains and desserts according to set ingredients, making the meal and then evaluating and giving each meal a score.
COMPUTING: For the full Autumn term, we are going to be studying Coding. We will develop our coding skills and then design our own coding programme to share with others to show what we have learned.
RSE: The theme for this half term is Being Me. In Rowan, we will be finding out about body image and what it means to have a negative and positive body image.
RE: This half term, our focus will be on why some people believe God exists and what religions tell us when life gets hard.
