PINE (10CP) 2022 - 2023
Welcome to Pine Class Page.
Welcome to Pine Class! Our class teacher is Claire Pickering and the teaching assistants are Lissette, Jenni and Mark.
Don't forget to login to our Dojo page as well to see what we have been up to.
Special Breakfast happens each week on a Friday where we give our certificates to our Rights Respecting Superstars and find out which Duty bearers have earned an extra special mention too.
Please try and read with your child regularly either online using Active Learn or using a reading book if you have requested one to be sent home.
The children have access to many online learning sites to keep them busy at home and in school. Log in and see if you can beat your previous scores on some of the learning games.
During the Autumn term we will be studying:
ENGLISH: Each half term we will focus on a variety of texts to bring both reading and writing to life for the class. We want to fully immerse and engage the children so then they want to learn. We will also have a class read which will be separate to our English text, we will read this each day to enable the class to hear stories and poems read to them. This will to allow them to listen with enjoyment.
In all of our written work, we will also be using Colourful Semantics to help us improve our sentence structure.
MATHS: We will be starting the term by looking at place value and then move onto the 4 operations - adding, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be using a range of maths apparatus in practical sessions to enable us to understand numbers and the number system.
SCIENCE: Our main focus this half term is the circulatory system. We will be learning about the functions of the heart, how exercise affects the body, the function of blood within the body and how the lungs work. We will enjoy recapping the names of the bones within the sketetal system - we will be testing you at home to see if you know them too!
HISTORY: Our main topic focus will be the Ancient Greeks. We will endeavour to make as many links through our curriculum as possible with this topic. We will be looking at the olympic games, Gods, Greek clothing, and what they did during their leisure time. We will also link this to our English by reading some Myths and Legends.
ART: We will be working with Jo our school artist and working on the skill of drawing showing perspective.
COMPUTING: This term, we are going to be looking at coding.
RSE: The theme for this half term is Being Me. In Pine, we will be finding out about:
How is my mental and physical wellbeing connected?
How do I keep physically healthy?
Why is it important to know about nutritional content of food?
How do drugs affect the mind and body?
RE: This half term, our focus will be on: Is it better to express your beliefs in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?
