LIME (KH) 2020 - 2021

Ms Hyland

Welcome to the Lime Class page!!

The Lime Tree class is made up of four members of staff: Karen (our magical class teacher), Tina (our tenacious level 3), Chelsea (our vegan one-to-one) and Jess (our bouncy TA). Below is all the information you need to know about what we will get up to in Spring Term 1!

This term, our Vehicle is called Food and Farming! This will be incorporated into all our English, Maths, History, Art and Design and Technology lessons over the term... let’s take a look!!

In English, we are excited to be writing to inform using diaries, letters, non-chronological reports, instructions and biographies. We hope to use all the skills we learn in English on the plenty of school trips we have planned (of course these will be fun AND educational!)

In Maths, we will be looking at Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division and Fractions. In addition (pardon the pun) to this, every two weeks we will be looking at Measure!

We will be looking at how Britian changed throughout the Stone Age and Iron Age in History. We will be looking at the food, farming techniques and settlements that were around during these periods. We will be doing lots of exciting discussions, including talking about "What is meant by a hunter or gatherer.”

In Science, we are looking at animals and humans! We will be exploring the digestive system; identifying different types of human teeth and looking the different food chains (producers, predators and prey).

In Design and Technology, we will be planning, making and evaluating piggy banks! By the end, we will have somewhere funky and unique to save our pennies!

In Food technology we will be looking at different types of healthy foods and designing and creating our own healthy meals so we can grow big and strong!

Our Art this term is inspired by an artist called Arcimboldo. We are going to be drawing, painting and sculpting based on his work using fruit and veg to create different portraits!
