HAZEL (ED) 2021 - 2022
Hello and welcome to Class Hazel!
Mrs Dancza is the Class Teacher in Hazel, along with Khat and Akilah, who are the Teaching Assistants.
Special Breakfast happens each week on a Friday where we give our certificates to our Rights Respecting Superstars and find out which Duty bearers have earned an extra special mention too.
We have PE with Reo, our Sports Coach, on a Monday this half term, so make sure you have your trainers on those days, please. We also have swimming on Tuesdays this half term, so make sure you bring your swimming shorts and a towel.
Please try to read with your child regularly, either online using Active Learn or using a reading book if you have requested one to be sent home.
Pupils have been given their login details to access our school learning apps at home. Please contact your class team if you need the login details to be re-sent.

In Autumn 1, we will be studying:
ENGLISH: We will be doing 2 weeks of narrative work using the book Beowulf by Rob Lloyd Jones, 2 weeks of Informing using the text How to be an Anglo-Saxon and 2 weeks of Persuasion using the text You Wouldn't Want to be An Anglo-Saxon Peasant.
MATHS: We will be starting the term by looking at place value and then move on to the 4 operations - adding, subtraction, multiplication and division.
SCIENCE: We will be learning about Humans including animals, looking specifically at the human life cycle and how it compares to some animals. We will be plotting some graphs using data and looking for patterns to make conclusions.
HISTORY: The Anglo Saxons - We will be using primary and secondary sources to find out who they were and what they did, as well as learning when in History they were around.
ART: We will be working with Jo our school artist and working on the skill of painting. She will help us to mix different colours using the mother colour and then how to do a self-portrait.
COMPUTING: For the full Autumn term, we are going to be studying coding. We will develop our coding skills and then design our own coding programme to share with others to show what we have learned.
RSE: The theme for this half term is Being Me. In Rowan, we will be finding out about body image and what it means to have a negative and positive body image.
